The English Department was delighted to welcome actors from RADA into school this week for a dynamic and engaging performance of Romeo and Juliet for our Y7 students. As part of their Shakespeare’s Villains unit, pupils had the opportunity to see how professional performers bring Shakespeare’s language to life on stage, transforming the ‘text from page’ to performance with energy, humour, and creativity.
The visit also provided valuable foundational learning for future study: the exploration of character, staging, and interpretation will support Y8’s focus on Shakespeare’s Women and Y9’s work on Shakespeare in Performance.
It was a fantastic experience that enriched their understanding of Shakespeare and demonstrated the power of live theatre in deepening literary study.
