A huge thank you to our English Department for organising another RADA theatre visit to see Richard II. It was a genuinely wonderful and humbling experience for our students, many of whom spoke afterwards about how grateful they were to have had the opportunity to see Shakespeare performed live.

For many students, this was their first experience of watching Shakespeare in a professional theatre setting. Several said they had never realised Shakespeare could be so exciting, dramatic or even fun, and many commented that seeing the play performed helped them understand Shakespeare far more clearly than just reading it on the page. Others were excited simply to visit a new part of London, and experience a cultural space they had not been to before.

One of the most moving parts of the visit was hearing from a parent who accompanied her son on the trip, who shared that she had never visited the theatre herself, but had always dreamed of understanding Shakespeare, and building the confidence to one day go to the Globe Theatre. She explained that this RADA visit gave her real joy and confidence, and she was incredibly grateful to the school for the opportunities offered to her son. It was a powerful reminder that trips like these do not only impact students; they can have a meaningful effect on families and wider communities too.

We are so grateful to be able to work with incredible institutions like RADA, and look forward to continuing to create opportunities that help our students access literature, theatre, culture and the wider world with confidence and joy.
