This year we have two amazing groups of a mix of Year 10 and Year 12 students as part of the Young Enterprise programme.

Our talented Enterprise group, led by Mr Steve Cripps, took Old Spitalfields Market by storm, launching their businesses ‘Mini Magic’ and ‘ReFab’.

‘Mini Magic’ specialise in handcrafted gift items. The team created beautifully presented jars filled with special ornaments and handwritten personalised messages, making each piece unique and meaningful. Alongside these, Mini Magic also designed and sold handmade key chains and crocheted bracelets, showcasing creativity, attention to detail, and strong craftsmanship. Their products were carefully made and thoughtfully presented, appealing to customers looking for personalised, one-of-a-kind gifts.

‘ReFab’ carefully handmade and sewed hair scrunchies, as well as special key chains using upholstered materials donated to them. They also created unique tote bags, thoughtfully designed and produced using the same reused upholstered fabrics, promoting sustainability and creative reuse.

They joined over 50 student-run companies from schools across London, competing for awards and showcasing their entrepreneurial skills. Despite the tough competition, they achieved an impressive £200 profit. It was fantastic to see our students networking, selling, and demonstrating their business acumen.

Message from Mr Steve Cripps:

It was a pleasure to accompany our two Young Enterprise teams of Year 10 and Year 12 students to Old Spitalfields Market on Tuesday. Both teams, ‘Mini Magic’ and ‘ReFab’, showed so many skills in preparing for the day, as well as marketing and selling their products on the day. The judges were full of praise for both the products and the stalls, and all the students were a real credit to Alperton Community School.(The ‘ReFab’ team would like to say a special thank you to Ms Sabur for all the time she took to train them in making a selection of tote bags made from donated material from London fashion houses.)

Congratulations to all students involved for representing the school with such professionalism, creativity, and determination.

Stay tuned for upcoming Enterprise events and updates, and thank you to everyone for their continued support!
