It was a pleasure  to invite artist and eco activist Francesca Busca to give a talk in the library to Year 7 art students about her artwork and eco initiatives she has been involved in over the last few years.

Students learned how Francesca recycles trash from discarded waste found in the home, workplaces and outside, that she can then use to produce beautiful artworks.  Students were fascinated by the wide range of materials she has sourced for her artworks which can take from a couple of days to several years to build.

Materials collected for each artwork tell a story about where it was found, including the impact that that particular waste has on the environment, which would otherwise contribute to landfill or pollution. Students learned the important role we play in creating a more sustainable environment and protecting our planet. Students were really engaged throughout the workshop, putting lots of interesting questions to the artist to find out more about her work.
