On Friday 12 December we had our very first student to student panel where over 30 of our Year 13 students representing a subject they study at A level was paired with an Year 12 student studying the same subject.

This was a great opportunity for our Year 13 students to reflect on their public exams and what they will implement ahead of their second public examination in February 2026, the habitats they would develop and also what they would do to look after their wellbeing during the examination period. This was also a great experience for our Year 12’s, who will go onto this Christmas break to revise for their mid-year exams which will take place in January 2026 and it was very helpful for them to be able to ask various questions to the Year 13 students.

We aim to run a similar workshops for our Year 11 students by allocating one student in Year 13 to advise them on their post public examination in the early part of the Spring term.

Student voice feedback:

Year 13 feedback:

“It was a very good experience, I was able to communicate my next steps as well as help the Year 12 students build better habits and how we can learn from our mistakes”. (Y13 student)

“Maths, chemistry and physics – My advice was to spend time making a plan that ensures an equal balance between the three subjects and follow it. If one subject is taking up more time, it’s better to just move on to what is in the plan and come back to it at a later time.” (Y13 student)

“Economics – implement more on reading the news to apply to essays” (Y13 student)

Year 12 feedback:

“It was a very informative meeting. I got lots of tips and advice on how to revise effectively. I will definitely be using this in the weeks coming up to my mid-year exams!” (Y12 student)

“I was advised to make revision notes early on and not procrastinate, and also to revise from a range of different sources with an emphasis on exam questions.” (Y12 student)

“Photography – The Year 13 students gave me information on two of my main concerns which were about the photography exams and course work, as well as some extra advice.” (Y12 student)

“Physics – I was given advice to go through revision questions in one go to simulate exam conditions, and avoid checking the answers after each question.” (Y12 student)

“Biology and chemistry – I received advice about revision techniques and time management and also setting myself personal deadlines when it comes to UCAS application to make it the most effective it can be.” (Y12 student)

“Health and Social Care – I was advised to make flashcards and mindmaps to help with memorisation and also have a few key websites I can use for every coursework for reference.” (Year 12 student)
