The Drama Department is thrilled to have been selected for the prestigious Kiln Residency this year. As part of this exciting opportunity, the department welcomed Emma Kingston, a renowned West End actor, this Thursday to work with the Year 10 cohort. The ACS Talent Show on Thursday, December 5th, was an extraordinary celebration of creativity and talent, featuring remarkable performances from students across Years 7 to 11. The evening was filled with awe-inspiring acts that showcased the diverse skills and dedication of our students.
Year 11’s band set the stage ablaze with Cassie on vocals, Anaiya on drums, and Velan on acoustic guitar, delivering a sensational performance that left the audience buzzing. Sarani’s calming violin solo reflected her remarkable journey of progress from Year 7 to now, where she confidently plays entire pieces solo. (more…)
Alperton Community School was thrilled to welcome representatives from HS2 and Balfour Beatty to work with our Year 7 students on an engaging and innovative ICT careers game. On Tuesday 26 November, our Year 12 A Level Physics students had the opportunity to take part in a 2-hour lesson with Mr Henderson, a former headteacher and highly experienced physics teacher. During the session they covered the concept of superposition, stationary waves and their application to string instruments, like a guitar, topics which align with what pupils are covering in the ACS Science department curriculum.
The English department is proud to announce that several of our students participated in a national creative writing competition and had their work selected for publication! The editor of Young Writers personally emailed to express her delight with the creativity and flair in our students’ drabbles (100-word stories), extending her thanks to both the students and staff for their hard work and effort. Thank you to everyone who attended our Open Evening on Thursday 21 November. We were delighted to welcome so many students and parents to the event and to receive such excellent feedback.
The event was hosted by two of our current 6th form students Tariq and Aliza, who opened the evening with an engaging speech about their educational journey and future aspirations and how Alperton Sixth Form has been able to support them. They were particularly grateful for the continued support and advice the teachers and pastoral team have provided, but also for the numerous opportunities available at Alperton, that include not only learning opportunities, but also a wide range of enrichment activities, societies, clubs, national and international trips, leadership and entrepreneurial activities and much more. On Friday 15 November ten of our KS4 and KS5 form leaders met with our headteacher Mr Dixon as part of the student voice panel to discuss key issues and priorities related to their learning and student life at Alperton. They covered a wide range of topics across the school, from assessment and curriculum to catering provisions. It was a lively discussion that lasted for more than 35 minutes. Students were overwhelmingly happy to have been part of this conversation and would like to thank Mr Dixon for his time.
On Thursday, 17th October, Alperton Community School welcomed SEGRO, a leading real estate investment company, for an engaging two-hour workshop with 30 Year 10 students. SEGRO, known for developing and managing industrial and logistics properties across Europe, designed the session to introduce students to the world of business, logistics, and property development, while also encouraging them to think critically about their future career paths. Our English team was thrilled to welcome to our school The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) on 16th October to deliver a wonderful performance of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ to our Year 9 students.
On Friday 18th October we are holding a ‘non-uniform’ day for all year groups in order to raise funds for Wear Red Day to support anti-racism. As such, students are invited to come to school in a number of non-uniform red items in return for a £1 donation that we will collect from students on the day.
