On Thursday, 17th October, Alperton Community School welcomed SEGRO, a leading real estate investment company, for an engaging two-hour workshop with 30 Year 10 students. SEGRO, known for developing and managing industrial and logistics properties across Europe, designed the session to introduce students to the world of business, logistics, and property development, while also encouraging them to think critically about their future career paths. Our English team was thrilled to welcome to our school The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) on 16th October to deliver a wonderful performance of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ to our Year 9 students.
On Friday 18th October we are holding a ‘non-uniform’ day for all year groups in order to raise funds for Wear Red Day to support anti-racism. As such, students are invited to come to school in a number of non-uniform red items in return for a £1 donation that we will collect from students on the day. Last week, a group of Year 8 and 9 enthusiastic students and staff embarked on an unforgettable adventure to The Bushcraft Company in Kent. This two-day excursion offered an amazing opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in nature, build survival skills and strengthen friendships. The trip aimed to encourage personal growth, resilience, teamwork and a deeper connection with the great outdoors. The exemplary behaviour of the students really stood out, demonstrating the 4Rs at all times and contributing greatly to the success of the trip and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. On Monday, 30 September, we had the pleasure of welcoming to our school the author Nikesh Shukla, who delivered a special one-hour talk to our staff and students. He also conducted an inspirational workshop for a group of Year 9 students who are currently studying his book The Boxer, and having the opportunity to meet the author and learn how this novel became his most treasured work was a powerful experience. On Wednesday 25 September our Year 8 students took part in ‘Your Life You Choose’, a multi-agency programme run by magistrates in North West London and volunteers to raise awareness about crime among young people and teaches them how to keep away from it. (more…)
On Thursday 19 September, our A level physics students took part in Space Insight Day, a unique STEM workshop led by our special guest Mr Robin Mobbs, which involved problem solving, team building and hands-on activities. Last week we hosted our annual Open Day event at our Ealing Road school for our prospective Year 5 and 6 students and we were delighted to see so many parents and carers attending the event. The school was buzzing with excitement. Parents were invited to take a tour of the school, explore our learning facilities, meet with some of our staff and faculty members, and get a feel of our vibrant and welcoming school community. Parents were also able to ask questions, gather information about our school and the admission process. (more…)
