ALPERTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL BECOMES AN IQM FLAGSHIP SCHOOL

Alperton Community School is proud to announce that it has become an IQM Flagship School

Only around 100 schools in the UK have achieved IQM Flagship School status. This award recognises those unique schools who played a strong leadership role in developing inclusion best practice in their school or a network of schools. It promotes equal opportunities for all pupils, regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment and background. An inclusive school is defined by Ofsted as one in which the teaching and learning, achievements, attitudes and well-being of every student matter. (more…)

Afternoon Tea at the House of Commons

On Tuesday 5 June, as part of our TES nomination for the Secondary School of the Year, one person from each nominated school was invited to a pre-ceremony event, which consisted of afternoon tea at the House of Commons. This was hosted by Lucy Powell MP and the TES editor Ann Mroz and was a ‘thank-you’ for all the hard work of teachers up and down the country. (more…)

YEAR 10 STUDENTS ATTEND A GAME DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

On Monday 21 May, a group of Year 10 students took part in a game development workshop lead by one of our ex-students Omar, who is currently enjoying a successful career in game development. The workshop gave the students an insight into what it is like to be a game developer, allowed them to learn more about the industry, develop their own ideas for the future and gave them an opportunity to ask questions.

‘Spectroscopy in a Suitcase’ workshops with Imperial College

On Monday 23 April, our Sixth Form Chemistry students enjoyed a visit from the Imperial College, in collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry, as part of an outreach program called ‘Spectroscopy in a Suitcase.’ The session was delivered by Sharanda and Sam, who are RSC (Royal Society of Chemistry) Ambassadors and PhD students at Imperial College.  (more…)

Charity Champions represented Alperton at Suffra charity awards ceremony

ALPERTON NOMINATED FOR THE SECONDARY SCHOOL OF THE YEAR IN THE TES AWARDS 2018

We are very pleased to announce that Alperton Community School has been shortlisted for the “Secondary School of the Year” award in the TES School Awards for 2018. It is amazing to see our continued efforts being recognised by such a prestigious organisation, particularly after winning ‘Maths Team of the Year’ in the 2017 TES Awards. This is a fantastic achievement for our school and it is a testimony to the hard work our teachers and support staff put in to the profession and of course the outstanding results that the students produce as a result of this. Welcoming the Heads of the Commonwealth Nations!

A Level Media student takes part in the BFI Film Academy Residential

During the Easter break, A Level media student Aseem took part in the BFI Film Academy Residential, delivered by the NFTS (National Film and Television School). Only 66 participants are selected to take part in this programme from around the UK and each place is worth £3000. (more…)
