Over an entire week during form time, our Year 13 students have been mentoring our Y11 and Y12 students on their journey at Alperton. They discussed what they have learned and how will move forward based on the feedback from their PPE exams and what worked well for them and what they need to improve. They also offered advice on how to look after themselves and their mental and physical wellbeing.

The Year 11 and 12 students also had the opportunity to ask our Year 13’s any questions they had. It was such an amazing experience for our students and the atmosphere was magnificent.

Each student taking part got a chance to speak to more than one Year 13 mentor. We had over 40 Year 13 mentors and between 35 to 40 students from Year 11 and 12 taking part in the event each day.

Please see below the student voice feedback from the event:

Year 13 student voice:

“It was great getting to know other students and being able to give them tips and advice on their education.”

“The event helped me gain confidence and it was great to be able to encourage others to take the right decision.”

Year 12 student voice:

“I gained more knowledge about we are taught in both Health and Social Care and Psychology. I also learned more about what kind of revision techniques is best suited for each subject as they vary in content. The advice I received was very helpful as it applies to my other subjects as well, not just the ones I had in common with the two Year 13’s I spoke to.”

“The event allowed me to learn more about the importance of what I do in my journey in year 12 and how making notes about the things I learn this year will make things easier in year 13.”

“From today’s event, I learned many useful tips about my coursework and how I can stay engaged throughout the year.”

Yr11 student voice:

“I received useful revision tips and advice about what I need to do to improve. I also learned more about what Alperton Sixth Form is like. Overall, it was a very insightful chat.”

“I learned more about how A Level questions would be like, tips on how to improve for specific subjects, what I should be aware of before walking into A levels and how I should prepare myself.”

“I got advice on how to approach subjects at GCSE geography and business, and different study techniques.”

The Student Voice also met with our Headteacher Mr Dixon, where students shared their voice on a range of topics across the school.
