On Friday 25 April, we were delighted to welcome back 7 former Alperton students: Robert Digby, Glen McCoy, Tarlok Bola, Marian Jackson, Lily Arora, Mike Lath and Hazel Moss who were at Alperton back in the mid 1960s.
The distinguished careers they had led, covering education, finance, TV, banking and pharmaceuticals have truly inspired our students. On their arrival at Stanley Avenue, they were met by four Year 12 students, Merujen, Sami, Payal and Raina who, along with Mr Rayleigh, gave them a full tour of the building. The students asked them many questions about their time at the school and
what advice they would give to their younger selves.
After lunch, 12 Year 12 students took part in a career talk and Q&A session with the Alumni, who gave them careers advice and pearls of wisdom about how to be successful in life. The students were really impressed about their accomplishments and shared with the Alumni their own aspirations and ambitions.
It was yet another wonderful day welcoming back more amazing former students who were really inspiring and very complimentary about our school and our students. Please see below an extract from a letter from Robert Digby:
‘We appreciate you giving permission for us to return and it meant a lot to us. Mr. Rayleigh went above and beyond expectations to make us feel welcomed and was a fantastic host. We can’t thank him enough. However, the icing on the cake was meeting some 6th form students who gave up a free period to meet us. They struck us as being very mature and well behaved and interested in what we had to say. They interacted well with us and so again, a special thanks to the students who greeted us and gave up extra time. We heard some lovely presentations on the Cambodia and Tanzania trips and I think I spotted a couple of future teachers in the making. What an incredible day – thank you again.’
