Sixth Form Entry Criteria


Entry requirements


Students begin Year 12 studying 4 A Level subjects or equivalent. They will continue to study 3 of these subjects in Year 13, based on their performance at key check points

Top-performing students with Grades 8–9 in all GCSEs may continue to study 4 A Levels or equivalent into Year 13, if they demonstrate strong performance to indicate they can manage the workload.

No students take 5 full A Levels.

Please note – All students must have satisfactory references which demonstrate that the Sixth Form at Alperton Community School is the most appropriate Sixth Form at which to continue their studies.

The minimum entry requirement will be five GCSE qualifications at grades 5 – 9 including English Language and Mathematics. In addition to this students will be expected to meet the specific subject entry requirements which are outlined below:

Please Note


  1. All Courses Listed are Subject to Availability in September.
  2. All students must have satisfactory references which demonstrate that the Sixth Form at Alperton Community School is the most appropriate Sixth Form at which to continue their studies.
  3. Students offered a place in the Sixth Form are expected to be ready to begin their studies in the first week of September. If a student is unable to start on time, the school reserves the right to withdraw the offer and offer the place to another applicant, unless exceptional circumstances are agreed in advance.
  4. No admissions will take place after week 2 of the Autumn Term.

Places in Year 12 will be awarded in the following order of priority:


  1.  Children currently in public care (looked after children) / children previously in public care who meet the all entry criteria and have applied by the published deadline
  2. Students who were on roll at Alperton Community School at the end of the academic year immediately preceding the proposed date of entry into the Sixth Form and who meet the all entry criteria and have applied by the published deadline

SEND/EHCP considerations:


Offers for students with SEND or an EHCP are subject to entry requirements, course availability, and the school’s ability to provide appropriate support.

Students with an EHCP should apply through their SENCO to ensure their individual needs are fully considered.

All applications, including those from students with SEND or an EHCP, must be submitted by the published deadline. Late applications will be placed on the waiting list and considered only if places become available.


Sixth Form Appeals


This outlines the process for appeals regarding Sixth Form admissions for entry in September 2026

To guarantee that your appeal will be heard in early to mid-September 2026, you must submit your appeal by 4pm on Thursday 27 August 2026.

When completing the online form, you must:

(1) State the reasons for your appeal.
(2) Provide any supporting documentary evidence, including a copy of your result sheet.

Please note that the timetable is very tight to ensure that successful appellants can begin the school year as soon as possible.

Timetable for appeals for the 6th form is as follows

Last day for Lodging appeals 4pm on Thursday 27 August 2026 to guarantee that your appeal will be heard within the first weeks of September. You MUST state the reasons for your appeal on the online form and supply any documentary evidence at this stage e.g. a copy of your result sheet.
