LEVEL 3 COURSES
ACS Sixth Form offers a wide range of Level 3 course options for students to choose from. Students are able to follow a Btec or A Level only pathway or combination of both.
This two year programme of study pose a higher level of challenge than what students have been used to in Year 11.
Students are expected to match the hours of in class teaching they experience in Level 3 courses with an equivalent number of independent study for each subject in order to be successful in these courses.
Each A Level is allocated 10 hours of classroom based teaching time over 2 weeks.
In the majority of subjects each A Level is divided into four units. Two units are studied in Year 12 and a further two are studied in Year 13, with examinations taking place during the Summer Term.
Applied Btec Courses
Btec qualifications earn students the same University entrance points as A Levels and are valued by both Universities and Employers due to the high level of skills based learning they involve.
In the majority of Btec subjects students will be assessed using coursework alongside examinations which take place during the Summer Term.

Each year in September, we run Parent Information Evenings. The evening allows the school to inform parents on the different courses their child is following and give parents the opportunity to see and ask questions directly to school staff responsible for academic achievement.
On each of the evenings we publish a Parent Information Pack which details all the courses being taught and the content. The guide also contains useful links and other resources. Click on the link to download a copy of the information pack
