History
Introduction

This popular subject is taught at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and at post-16. The subject is designed to give students a clear understanding of the past, their place in it and the role they have to play in shaping a better future.
Not only will they gain historical knowledge and understanding but in addition, History courses are designed to equip students with key skills across the curriculum: numeracy, literacy, ICT and citizenship among others.
KS3
Year 7: Introduction: What is History, The Roman Empire, The Norman Conquest, King John: A Study in Kingship, Lost In Time: A 1000 year study in social history.
Year 8: Oliver Cromwell: Hero or Villain, The British Empire: For better or for worse, 'Dying For the Vote' : The Growth of Democracy.
Year 9: Life in the Trenches, the Battle for Ideas: Fascism, Communism and Democracy; The Holocaust; World War Two; The Post-war World; Student led areas of research; 'What is History?'; A Summary of KS3.

Post 16 Year 12
Unit code 6HI01. We have chosen D3 and D5 which are Russia in Revolution 1881-1924: From Autocracy to Dictatorship and Pursing Life and Livery: Equality in the USA, 1945 -68, this double module is worth 50% of the final AS grade.
Unit 2 – Unit code 6HI02. We have chosen E1 British Political History 1945-1990; Consensus and Conflict, this double module is worth 50% of the final AS grade.
Year 13 A2 Course
Unit 4 (6524) - Individual Assignment, an investigation of the students’ choice, this module is work 30% of the final A2 grade.
Unit 5 (6525) - British (6525J) Coursework option which is the impact of broadcasting and IT in the Twentieth Century, this module is work 30% of the final A2 grade.
Unit 6 (6526) - 6526E Hitler and the Nazi State: Power and Control, 1933–45, this module is work 40% of the final A2 grade.
